The
Legendary
Aubrey Ghent
is a third generational lap steel guitarist. He is a Master Artist
in his own right with an authentic style that is mind blowing! He
was literally born into gospel steel. The Sacred Steel Tradition
began with Ghent in 1992 and he has won national acclaim for his
unique gospel style and highly skillful techniques. Once you
experience Ghent's phenomenal performance your impression of the lap
steel guitar will never be the same!
Ghent's Family Legacy

The
Steel Guitar was first introduced to the House of God Church by
Aubrey's uncle, Willie Eason, during the 1940's. He was referred to
as 'Little Willie and his Talking Guitar.' Willie taught Aubrey's
father,
Henry Nelson, who played for more than 50 years in the
church and around the United States. He performed
with gospel greats
such as Rosetta Thorpe and
Mahalia Jackson. Aubrey was greatly
influenced
by his uncle and father and began learning
the instrument
at age six and playing for
church services at age nine. He has
continued his great family legacy of
the lap steel style for thirty
eight
years
and has been named and awarded
the "Master
Lap Steel Guitarist."
